PassportThe passport check is not applicable when traveling to an EU-country which is subject to the "Schengen Agreement". Nevertheless the passport is to be carried with you as proof of identification. In air traffic the Schengen countries include: Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Czech Republic and Hungary. For flights to "Non-Schengen Countries" the valid travel documents are required at passport control. Emergency PassportFor all those who have forgotten their passport or wohose passport is expired, it is possible to have an emergency passport issued at short notice. You get your emergency passport betwenn 5 am. and 5.30 pm. at the Citizens Advice Bureau in the New Town Hall, Haupstr. 1-5, 4041 Linz or the emergency passport office of the Linz professional fire brigade (0043/732/33 4 20) in the Wiener Straße (when the Citizen Advice Bureau is not open). On presentation of all the required documents, the emergency passport will be issued within about 10 min and is valid for approx. 6 months (dependent on travel destination). Please take note, that there are countries that do not issue any VISA for emergency passports. In some EU countries it is possible to still enter despite expired passport (applies during the 5 years following the loss of validity). |
